Hi everyone,
I passed NPTE recently. I thought I would post the tips which I found very useful.
Tips :
Half of the questions are straight forward. These questions are basically from the tables given in the review guide. Please be thorough with even the tiniest table in the review guide and blue book.
These questions also include joint mobilizations, gait deviations, muscles acting in each phase of the gait cycle, orthotics and prosthetics, wound dressing, spinal cord injuries, differences between arterial and venous ulcers,
developmental milestones, rehabilitation in different levels of myelodysplasia, contraindications for different physical agents,THR and TKR,Exercise tolerance testing, special tests etc.
Other half of the questions require analysis.
Orthopedics covers a majority of questions and concentrate on that.
Refer kisner for cruciate ligament injuries, meniscal injuries, rotator cuff injuries,THR,TKR,and joint moblization.
Refer Magee for special tests and figures including X-rays.
And a table in shoulder joint which states differences between atraumatic instability, adhesive capsulitis etc
In the lower leg differential diagnosis of shin splints, compartment syndorme, stress fracture etc. Be thorough with these tables also.
Be thorough with both review guide and blue book. Each and every word. That will lead you to success.
Most important of all is solve as many questions as you can.
You will be acquainted with the pattern of the exam and the type of questions you will encounter.
In the actual exam it seems as if more than one choice is correct. But, only one is correct of the four.A little guessing can do the job.
Some questions are really very difficult and do not waste time on them unnecessarily.Mark them and review them at the end of the section.
If you have freinds, I suggest have some discussions on some topics. You will remember better. That worked for me.
A friend of mine and myself discussed some difficult topics,
and I can never forget them.
Don't panic and be cool and follow the time constraint.
If I can pass, all of you can pass. Jut keep FAITH in the ALMIGHTY and do your job.
Be honest in studying. You will do it.
Hope this helps.
ALL THE BEST TO EVERYONE WHO IS TAKING NPTE.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

They are really nice tips chaitanya, thanks a lot. But it could have really helped a lot of users who is new to US National Physical Therapy Exam ( NPTE ) preparation if you could elabotae on few things such as the name and Author of the review Guide, and the name of the book referred as 'blue book' etc.

Thanks a lot again.

Thanks arun.
To everyone who is taking NPTE,
Review guide: NPTE Review and study Guide by Susan O. Sullivan and Raymond P. Siegelmann.
Blue Book: IER course manual.
Review guide can be bought online at [link] and it costs about $85.
Bluebook is not sold and you get it only through attending the IER course for 2 days. The schedules and dates of the IER course are available in the above site.
May God Bless you all

Here is the link for the TOEFL iBT Online Practice site.

http://toeflpractice.ets.org/

You need to signup to access the forum though. The signup is free. And you might also need Internet Explorer web browser if you are using some other browsers.

Hope that helps.
