A scar tissue would be stronger in mechanical strength compared to skin or muscles as it has more collagen fibers in it and less vascular than a fore mentioned tissues.

Yup I think the same. But there are mixed answers that I'm getting from everywhere. Trying to find out on the net too.
According to Robin it's weaker&Vascular!!
Well I'd this Question in my exam. And I opted for the second option:)

Here come, we have a discussion on hand. If it is mechanical strength alone to be counted then i guess scar stands ahead of skin, but if u r comparing to skin on a full scale of connective tissue properties i feel it should be termed 'weak' .
And I would agree with Arun on terming it to be less vascular, but stil cannot be counted 'avascular'.

Tissue properties are inferior in scar tissues, the plasticity as well as tensile strengths are found out to be lower than that of normal ones. Though it can be counted mechanically stronger it is still counted to be structurally weak due ot the uneven distribution and alignment of the collagen fibers as well as the presence of smaller fibers.
I could also understand that though collagen fiber content is more, the type of collagen fibers are of type3 generally and not the stronger type 1 fibers in scar tissues.
